Student Visa & Residence Permit

Successful applicants (except visa-exempt) obtain a Student Visa before travelling, then a residence permit (ikamet) after arrival.

Your visa & residence steps

1. Student Visa (Öğrenim Vizesi)

After you receive your acceptance letter, apply for a Student Visa at a Turkish Embassy or Consulate in your country BEFORE travelling. Visa-exempt applicants are the only exception.
2. Enter Türkiye & register

Travel to Türkiye on your student visa and complete your registration at the university with your original documents.
3. Residence permit (ikamet)

After arrival, apply for your student residence permit (ikamet) through the Presidency of Migration Management (e-ikamet). This is your legal stay permit for the duration of your studies.
